New Year's Eve

It’s New Year’s Eve!!! We’re hanging out with the Braun’s, having a blast playing games and telling funny stories!

This is a big “NEW YEAR” for us!!! 2009 will bring so many things for us! It’s so exciting!!!

Week 7

We’re now in Week 7 of our pregnancy and our baby is now about the size of a blueberry... (AMAZING!!!). The baby looks like a comma with a huge head and tiny body because brain cells are being generated at a rate of 100 per minute (which is why I’m sticking to sparkling cider tonight!!!) The baby’s mouth and tongue are forming and he/she is sprouting arm and leg buds. And… something I found as weird and even a little gross is the baby’s little kidneys are getting ready to do their job (pee production and excretion). The baby is going to be peeing inside me? What? This is not something I need to be learning when I’m already queasy!!! (which is, by the way, about 10,000 times bigger than he/she was at conception!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR BABY STRAUB!

Feelin' Queasy

Ugh…. I’ve felt so gross! I’m so hungry, but nothing is appealing to me. I’m so tired that I can’t function, and I always feel like I’m just about to spew, but never do…

I came home from work today in tears… but thankfully, I am off for the holidays this week so I’ll be able to rest a lot!

Luckily, I have a wonderfully supportive hubby who is taking incredible care of me! Cleaning the house, cooking for me (even when I can’t eat what I just requested him to cook!!!!)…. and giving me lots of love & support. He just keeps reminding me… you’re growing a HUMAN! You’re working 100% of the time! Even when you’re sleeping!

This whole pregnancy thing is just not as glamourous as people make it out to be!

I love my hubby

Week 6

On December 26th, we went for our first prenatal appointment! The doctor said that based upon the first day of my last period, I was approximately 6 weeks along! I was given a tentative due date of August 19th, but it will be easier to tell once I have my blood tests done.

If I am 6 weeks along, the baby is about the size of a grain of rice! The baby’s jaw, cheeks, chin, eyes, ears, and nose are beginning to form what will eventually become the adorable little face of our precious baby!!! His/her kidneys, liver, and lungs are also developing, and his/her heart is now beating 80 times a minute!

Stay Positive!

Jason and I have been married for almost a year and a half. We’ve both been so excited to have kids… we joked that we wouldn’t mind coming home from the honeymoon pregnant, even though it may be less than ideal, financially.

Over the first year there were a couple times we thought we might be pregnant, but weren’t. It was always so exciting to take the home pregnancy tests…. but always so dishearteneing when they were negative. After about a year, we decided we wanted to be more intentional about “trying” but we were having a little trouble because I was so irregular. My doctor gave me a choice between birth control and Clomid to “straighten me out”….. Clomid being the choice that supports ovulation… so we chose that one!!!

The first month on Clomid, I was 6 days late and was experiencing some whacky PMS symptoms…. since I was on a constructed cycle, we thought… “maybe it’s real this time!!!” We tested…. and it was negative yet again. We tried not to entertain the idea that there may be something wrong because we both knew that God had placed this desire in our hearts and he would be faithful in his time. We made a pact that we wouldn’t take a home pregnancy test again unless I was at least 14 days late.

The following month, I noticed that I had an elevated temperature for several days in a row and wondered if I had some sort of infection I was fighting off because I didn’t feel feverish at all; just warm to the touch. I started researching it and realized that elevated temperature was a very common early indicator of pregnancy! Who knew?

I tried not to think about it… but I was 10 days late now and just had a “feeling” this time. Jason and I bought some home pregnancy tests and agreed to test the next morning. We prayed that God would bless us with a family, joking that we wanted to be fruitful. We also prayed that if this wasn’t God’s time, that he comfort and encourage us in the event of another negative test.

Jason woke me up the next morning and like a zombie, I stumbled to the bathroom to pee on a stick at 7 am! We couldn’t believe our eyes! THE TEST WAS POSITIVE IMMEDIATELY!!! Jason ripped open another test and tested again and it was immediately positive again! We couldn’t believe it! We’re going to be parents!!!
